ABOUT US         Here’s OUR Story...        I believe that God created all of us to be the best that we can be. I was blessed to have parents who wanted nothing but the best for all of us. Our parents worked hard to build a thriving business. They had 3 children who are out there on their own in the World with their own families and now, my parents are looking forward to great-grandchildren. They have journeyed extensively throughout life and enjoyed spending time with friends & relatives and fortunately, they still want to do more of it. I met my husband in '89 and he was doing fairly well in the Corporate World. We married after our engagement and started having kids. Needless to say, I had to leave my retail shop behind after seven years of flogging a dead horse.. Little did I realize at the time but the Corporate World was ready to come down on us as well. Peter was "down-sized" as they say in H.R. Circles. What an odd expression for being let go from a job, don’t you think? It was indeed a very painful time for both of us especially when we weren't prepared and you have to understand that at the time he was well passed forty. And, experience didn’t count for much either when employers tended to recruit someone young and a lot cheaper if they were only willing to train them. A fter a ton of rejection slips and a hundred or so J.O.B. interviews and meetings, he finally got a job with a local corporation. So he climbed back on to the saddle and drove off every morning, at least it seemed that way. I recall that I hardly saw him simply because he was putting in long days. Meanwhile, I was still at home with our two little toddlers babysitting to help meet the monthy bills and household expenses  Things appeared to be settling down and I felt we could now relax and start enjoying life again. Then, it happened all over again. Peter got “down-sized” by the Company that had hired him 30 months ago. We both got to hate every time someone mentioned the term "down-sizing" in a casual conversation. It was then and there that we vowed that whatever happens from now on to us that we had to do it on our own and not rely on any JOB to get us through the month. I just knew we needed to venture out on our own.  But what kind of business was the question.... While we were looking, “God Winked ” at me!  I didn’t notice it at first, but realized much later, what had happened to us changed when we met someone who we now call a close friend of the family. At the same time, we were also re-evaluating our goals, and personally I decided to put my faith in God and to help others which is a great feeling to have deep inside. Our dear friend asked us a very simple question, “What did we like to do when it came to fun and relaxation”?  My husband and I spoke in unison when we blurted out a single word. The word was “travel”....it could have been something else but it was "travel". He said to us that you have the answer. You know already, so look no further, "What you guys should be doing is travel"  What do you mean? I said in response, "We can't afford that especially with two teenage daughters and all..."  We hadn’t done much of it lately either but I still had a strong desire to do so again. Well, he presented us with a home based business idea that was as solid as the Rock of Gilbraltar – An Online Travel Agency was the business opportunity!  Yes, we’re the “baby boomers” he said and you know “baby boomers” love to venture out and travel. He wasn't suprised by our answer at all, I knew he had hit on something for the both of us to do. Next Peter and I did our “due diligence” and researched the opportunity. Let me tell you we haven’t looked back since joining YTB Travel. Peter does the marketing side of the biz and I do the travel side. The best of both worlds and depending how little or how much you like to work this online travel business, we're now home together and I can say for us it’s an opportunity that we haven’t regretted. I'm seeing places I only dreamt of seeing previously.  Our friend, well, what can I say? Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for..  If I had to sum it all up in 20 words or less, I'd say, "it is to enjoy what life has to offer and to help others turn their dreams into reality ".
